How to Delete Your TextConcierge Account
Closing your account shouldn't involve emailing support, filling in a form, or logging into a dashboard. So we added one command that handles everything, right inside the Telegram chat you already use.
The Short Version
Open your TextConcierge chat on Telegram and send:
/stop
You'll get one confirmation prompt. Reply YES and your account is closed. That's it.
If you prefer plain English, any of these work just as well:
- "delete my account"
- "I want to leave"
- "close my account"
/deleteor/deleteaccount
What Actually Happens
When you confirm, TextConcierge does four things in sequence, with no extra steps on your end:
- Cancels your subscription. If you're on a paid plan, we cancel it immediately with Stripe. No further charges.
- Revokes Google Calendar access. We delete the OAuth tokens from our side and revoke them with Google, so TextConcierge can no longer read or write to your calendar.
- Permanently deletes your data. Your profile, conversation history, reminders, events, notes, calendar integrations, support tickets, referral records, and billing tokens are all erased from our database. We keep a minimal tombstone (your internal ID, the date, and the reason for closure) so we can prove the account existed and was closed. Nothing personal is retained.
- Sends a goodbye message. A single plain-English confirmation tells you what was done.
The whole flow takes a couple of seconds.
Family Plans: What to Expect
TextConcierge subscriptions are owned by the family admin, so the deletion behavior depends on your role:
- If you're the family admin,
/stopcloses the whole plan. Your subscription is cancelled, every family member's Google Calendar access is revoked, and everyone's data is permanently deleted. We'll warn you clearly before you confirm if other people are on your plan. - If you're a family member,
/stopremoves just you. Your Google Calendar access is revoked and your data is permanently deleted. The rest of the family keeps going as normal, and the subscription stays intact.
Either way, you'll see the scope spelled out in the confirmation prompt before anything happens.
Changed Your Mind?
The confirmation step is there for a reason. Reply NO (or ignore the prompt) and nothing happens. Your account stays exactly as it was.
If you've already confirmed and regret it, just message the bot again. A fresh account will be set up automatically on your next message, and you can reconnect Google Calendar whenever you're ready. Your old data is gone for good (we don't keep a copy to restore from), but you won't be stuck re-registering from a form either.
Why We Built It This Way
One command, one confirmation. No menus to dig through, no "are you really sure" loops. If the slash command slips your mind, plain English ("delete my account") works just as well.
Cancelling Stripe and revoking Google shouldn't be separate errands, so the bot handles both. And delete means delete: when you close your account, your personal data leaves our database. We don't keep your messages or calendar history "just in case".
If your action affects other people on a family plan, we say so before you confirm. And if you ever come back, you won't be stuck re-registering from a form.
Try It (Or Don't)
We hope you stay. But if TextConcierge isn't working for you, /stop is there, and it just works, same as everything else.
